When an alignment won't fix it
Sometimes the answer is that alignment is not your problem. A worn tie rod end, a bad wheel bearing, a collapsed control-arm bushing or a bent strut will all mimic an alignment problem, and aligning a car with a loose front end is aligning a moving target.
We check the parts before we touch the rack. If something needs replacing first, we'll tell you that instead of selling you an alignment that won't hold.

How do I know if I need an alignment?
The car pulls to one side on a flat road, the steering wheel is crooked when you’re going straight, the steering feels loose, or one edge of a tire is wearing faster than the rest. Any of those is worth a measurement.
How often should I get an alignment?
Once a year is a sensible rhythm around here, and always when you put on new tires or after you hit something hard enough to make you wince.
Is a four-wheel alignment necessary on a front-wheel-drive car?
Usually, yes. The rear wheels set the thrust angle the front wheels have to be aligned to. Aligning only the front on a car with an out-of-spec rear is guesswork.
