Sticker due?

Twenty bucks. In and out.

$20 is the maximum the Commonwealth lets any station charge — it's the state's number, not ours. Your sticker expires the last day of the month printed on it, and nobody mails a reminder. Drop it off in the morning and it's usually ready by lunch.

What we do

Everything your car needs. Nothing it doesn't.

Straight diagnosis, photos of what we find, and a price before we touch a wrench. Thirteen things we do, all under one roof, so nothing waits on somebody else's schedule.

The Lloyd's way

46 years of not getting over on people

Straight answers

What's wrong, what it costs, and what can wait. Chad did 20 years in the Marine Corps before he ran this shop — you will get it straight, including when the straight answer is "leave it alone".

Photos of everything

Every inspection comes back with pictures of what we found and the measurement next to it. You approve from your phone. Nothing happens without a yes.

Nobody upsells

The free 16-point check is a health report, not a sales pitch. If a part has life left in it, we tell you how much and when to look again.

The staff are professional and explains everything very clearly. They are honest and transparent with no attempts to upsell unnecessary services. I highly recommend this shop for reliable work.

I've been taking my cars to this shop for over 20 years (I live in Chesterfield Co) for a long range of services from brakes, tires and general maintenance. Always satisfied with their work and customer service is top notch.

Had a flat tire on Rt 295 and called Troy at Lloyd's Tire and Auto. He had the tire ready when I arrived and they put it on in a timely manner. Made a bad situation a lot better! Friendly service and good prices.

This is an auto repair shop, not a Starbucks. I've been bringing my personal and work vehicles here for 2+ years. Knowledgeable, reliable, honest, and wallet friendly!

They looked over my car and then explained to me exactly what needed to be done, made sure I understood, and then only moved forward when I gave them permission to. They listened when I tried to explain how tight money is for me right now, then proceeded to give me a discount whenever and wherever possible.

FAQ

Questions people actually ask

How much is a Virginia state inspection?

$20 for a passenger car, truck, trailer or motor home. That is the maximum a station may charge under Virginia Code § 46.2-1167, so it is the same at every legitimate station in the Commonwealth. Motorcycles and autocycles are $12; commercial vehicles are $51.

Do you take appointments?

No — we don't run an appointment book. You drop the car off and we work through the day's vehicles in the order they land. That's why we can usually take you the same day. Let us know you're coming at (804) 737-2828 or on the drop-off page and your name goes on the counter.

What time should I drop off?

As early as you can after we open at 8:00 AM. A car that lands first thing has the whole day to get looked at. There is no before-hours key drop, so bring the keys inside once the shop is open.

Where are you located?

320 W Williamsburg Rd, Sandston, VA 23150 — on Williamsburg Road (US-60), about a mile from the I-64 Exit 197 interchange and a few minutes from Richmond International Airport.

What are your hours?

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Closed Saturday and Sunday. Drop-offs begin when the shop opens at 8:00 AM.

Is the 16-point inspection really free?

Yes, with every service. It does not apply to state inspections — that is a separate, state-regulated procedure and the two are not the same thing.

Will you tell me if something does not need fixing?

Constantly. The free check is a health report, not a sales pitch. If a part has life left in it we tell you how much and when to look at it again — that is the entire reason people have been coming back here since 1980.

Do you work on my make of vehicle?

Almost certainly. We're a general independent shop — domestic and import, cars, light trucks and vans. Call with the year, make and model if you want to be sure before you drive over.

46 years of days. Come see why.

We're at 320 W Williamsburg Rd, Sandston, VA 23150, Monday to Friday, 8 to 5. No appointment to make — tell us you're coming, or just turn up.
